Coley (Saithe)
Description: Coley is a part of the cod family. It is different to cod however and has an arching domed body and a slender snout. It is dark charcoal coloured at the top of the back with a vivid white line running from head to tail. It also has a silvery underbelly and a forked tail.
Where does it live: Mainly found around rocky areas Coley resides in The Atlantic and The North Sea.
When is it in season: Coley spawn in the spring and are readily available and in their best condition from April through to December.
What does it eat: A bottom feeder Coley will eat small worms and smaller fish.
Size: Roughly 30-100cm.
