Marrfish Grimsby
Marrfish Grimsby was opened in 2017, managed by Glen Thompson who has 35 years experience in the seafood industry. Our Grimsby facility supports Marrfish Bishop Stortford with all its Primary Processing needs, as a business we are 99% reliant on buying whole fish direct from markets and boats which is processed into graded fillets and delivered directly to Bishop Stortford. We are proud of our ability to control every aspect of the products journey from capture to customer with quality and turnaround being critical to our success in all aspects of our business.
We now process all our whitefish, salmon, farmed bass & bream at the facility with a team which we have developed since 2017.
Our buying behaviour has developed over time, we have solid relationships with markets, vessels and buyers in Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Faroe, Shetland as well as Peterhead where the majority of our own boats land and our long-standing connections on the south coast. Grimsby is a great location with a very complex unique logistical infrastructure enabling us to deal with all of the above.
We also supply like minded quality orientated Fishmongers and food service businesses across the UK and have recently finessed the ability to cut and freeze fish in IQF and Block frozen packaging for restaurant, contract catering and fish and chip shops who all require a quality graded and boned haddock supply in particular.
We have taken the opportunity to utilise Grimsby Towns historic ability to smoke fish in traditional kilns and commercial kilns and pride ourselves on our smoked whitefish offering to control the quality of the product from capture to customer.
Marrfish Grimsby has a great future within the business internally and externally providing solutions to Marrfish and other like-minded business in the constant changing markets that we all operate in.
Our focus moving forward is to invest in machinery to enable us to be quality driven whilst to continue to be competitive, we are very excited to introduce a water jet scaling machine, an IT solution, and a pin boning line in Q2 2022.
